Primitive Campsites

Go Camping!

Nestled among tall pines, scrub oaks and 15 miles of breathtaking Trails is the addition of the new Primitive Outpost Campsite. Reminiscent of a Huck Finn adventure, this amenity hosts four individual sites, constructed with canvas tents supported on rustic hardwood floors and roped together with framed recycled downed trees. Take your pick from the Alamo, Bonanza, Colt, and Duke. Each includes comfy nylon cots to accommodate 4 people per site, 6-guests max with an additional tent. An old-fashioned pump sink is centrally located, for cleanup after a fun-filled evening of grilling hotdogs, burgers and roasting marshmallows around the campfire. And two “old-timey” outhouses are available for your comfort! No need to cut your own wood as the Gulf State Park stocks each campsite personally for your visit. The Park’s Camp Store, swimming pool, bike rentals and bathhouse are accessible to all campers. The map of the campground, the park and the Backcountry Trail are all on the website and available when you check in. You are welcome to park at any of these locations to backpack in, the closest of course is Cotton Bayou Trailhead.

NO CARS ARE ALLOWED ON THE TRAIL AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON.
